All day at work yesterday I was so anxious to get home and paint more. Yoda would not have been pleased with my lack of attention to the tasks at hand. The clock went soooo slooooowly. Finally I was released and I hurried home to my paints. Kelly's post about the hummingbird at Red and the Peanut inspired me to try a subject I've been meaning to paint for a while now. I know there's a trick to painting iridescent colors, but...

Great job on the onions and the hummer! Try more variation in the values in the areas that need to be iridescent and I think you'll be happier. A have a macaroon instead!

Hee-hee, sorry Laure. Both the paints and the brushes (#6 and #8 round. A little bird recommended those sizes to me...) are from Utrecht. I read an artist's review of all the major brands of watercolors and Utrecht was right up there with Daniel Smith and W&N as far as quality, light-fastness and colors being as advertised. It also helped that Utrecht was having a major on-line sale, so I figured if I didn't end up liking the paints or brushes, at least I hadn't spend a fortune on them. Luckily, I really like both.
