Illustration Friday - Skyline

Pen & ink. Roughly 14" x 17".

Not exactly your typical skyline, but I've been looking for an excuse to use this picture. I did this for a class assignment a few years ago and it was one of the few assignments I liked from that class. I love the inner and outer worlds feel to it; multiple dimensions. The process of adding texture actually became a little addictive. The instructor felt I hadn't used enough contrast or a full value range, but I still like the results.

All of the illustrations in this blog are copyrighted, so don't be a jerk and use them for your own selfish purposes. Thanks.

I like this a lot! I think you have a great range of values here, and I totally love the art deco look. I also like the few organic shapes you included amongst the hard edges. Nice work!
